2nd Middle eastern Oud & Percussion camp , Khalid Mohammed Ali, Adel Salameh, Sameer Makhoul and Abdel Rhani Krija.
Dear friends , I am very pleased to let you know that the 2nd edition of the middle eastern oud and percussion camp will be held at chalet St. Paul ,
Switzerland between the 17-22/08/2015 ...
All the info regarding the camp is on my website...
We have the pleasure to welcome Iraqi Oud Master and Composer, Khalid Mohammad Ali to our camp this year. He will be teaching the oud with a special
focus on Iraqi maqam.
We will have Palestinian master oud player and educator Sameer Makhoul and Moroccan master percussion player Abdel Rhani Krija ...
All students will have to study with the 4 teachers...

That Chalet looks ridiculous Adel. Such a beautiful place to learn and just be somewhere to retreat and appreciate life in general. The picture of the
guy playing percussion on the hill is great.
Awesome videos...I loved the Samai HKK video. I wish I was in Europe my man. All you oudis over there are pretty lucky.

Thank you dear mike for your nice words ... The chalet and the countryside is very beautiful ... It's ideal for the oud camp .
just would like to say something a bout Rohi Al khamash , he was a great oud player and one of the best composers that the Arab world has known .. In
fact most Iraqi musicians have learnt from this master including Munir Bashir .
We will study his Hijaz kar Kurd Samai and other music by other composers ... We have 10 spots left ...have a great day , see you at the camp,

Abdel Rhani Krija,
Rhani Krija was born in Essaouira, Morocco, right in the heart of the Gnawa culture. Rhani Krija grew up listening and exploring many different North
African music styles, which formed the basis for his musical work today.
As a teenager, he began to work professionally as a percussionist with some of the most respected musicians of the traditional Moroccan music scene,
and he soon established himself as a sought-after musician, well known for his authentic grasp of Arabic, Andalusian, African and Latin American music
styles.
In February 2003, Rhani was invited by STING to record percussion tracks for STING´s new album "Sacred Love", which was released later that year. The
collaboration continued on STING´s DVD "Inside - The Songs Of Sacred Love", on which Rhani is prominently featured as the percussionist of the band,
followed by the worldwide promotion tour for the "Sacred Love" album, which kept him busy until the end of 2003. Since January 2004, Rhani is on the
road again with STING as the percussionist in STING´s band on the "Sacred Love" world tour, and he feels privileged that his work with STING not only
gave him the opportunity to share the stage with "the man himself", but also with jazz greats of the likes of Herbie Han<b>rooster</b> and
Chick Corea.
Rhani has been appearing, touring and sharing the stage with Housseine Kili, Djamel Laroussi, Omar Sosa, Momo Djender, Eda Zari, Don Byron, Karim Ziad
(formerly with Joe Zawinul and others), Mokhtar Samba (Yousso N´dour, Salief Keita), Xavier Naidoo, Sarah Connor, WDR Big Band, Vinnie Colaiuta,
Dominic Miller, Adel Salameh, Keziah Jones and many others.

Hello Lute,
Thanks for your interest in the Oud Camp...
Depending on your level
Advanced Students will work on a Samai Hijaz Kar Kurd composed by Rohi Al Khamash. They will be taught many exercises for the right hand (Risha) and
left hand. They will study also a Longa. They will study a specific Maqam and analyse it. They will study the Art of Taqsim and how to modulate within
a taqsim. Ear training is very important and not only to play with sheet music.
Intermediate students will study a Samai Bayati Thaqil, some music of the great Sayed Darwich, maqam theory, and a lot of exercises for both right and
left hand technique.
Beginners will be instructed on the correct way to hold the instrument, fingering positions, traditional songs from the Arab world, right and left
hand technique, and we will learn some very basic maqam theory.
Individual Practice: This is simply where students go over what they have studied and if they are not sure about something, the instructors are there
to provide extra help if necessary.
Group Forming & Practice: Every night we get together and play music. I have found that some students feel happy performing with a specific
student. They share music and play together. Last year some students stayed up until 03:00 am. What we ask is not to be loud if you are staying up
very late as some of us need to sleep.
Sheet music will be sent to all students 2 months before the Camp.
Also we have the concert with all the students and teachers at the Chapel.
As you can see, it is very comprehensive. This year we have students from USA, Germany, France, Italy, Belgium, Switzerland and the UK.

Welcome to the second Middle Eastern oud camp , we will be their in less than 10 days ... I will not write anything else as some other people in this
forum steels my ideas and started a war against me and my camp ... We will study the authentic Arab Oud ... The Oud which I know and respect not what
