Arabic violin

Hi guys, not an oud project here, but close, an Arabic violin. In 1686 Stradivari starting using a slightly shorter, and wider pattern, which became known as the Goddard pattern. I wanted to make a violin that would respond better for the lower Arabic tuning, GDGD, so I chose this pattern specifically for that.

I started this project mid summer of 2014, and worked on it as a low priority job. Between repairs and other ouds. But finally came to a completion last week.

Nice!

The gdgd tuning, along with aeae, are among the tunings used by oldtime US fiddle players too.
