Has anyone tried a Myer's pick-up?
I know there have been many amplification threads but I'm wondering if anyone here has any experience with the Myers Pick-up?

I'm thinking of getting one vs. a Twin K&K only because it appears you can freely take the pick up on and off and put it on your other oud (s).
Anyone tried this? Thanks.

Is that a mic or a pickup?? Seems to float above the soundboard no?

Well I guess it's an external pick-up. It seems to be a little mic with a goose-neck that you mount with a suction cup and then it has a quarter-inch
input. Again just curious if anyone has had any experience with one.

The Myers website shows several varieties of what they call "pickup" for lute. But a discussion on a mandolin forum indicates that it is a condenser
microphone. There seems to be disagreement as to whether the mic is omni-diretional or not. There is also disagreement as to whether (some?) Myers
"pickups", which may in fact be microphones, require an external pre-amp or not. And there is disagreement as to whether the model or models that were
tried worked well or not. More said yes than said no. In the discussion (l've put the link below) there seems to be consensus on one point: the
suction cup does not adhere well to all finishes. Satin finish soundboards do not get along with Myers suction cups, at least not when the soundboard
is on a mandolin.

Thanks for the clarification regarding pick-up vs. condenser. While it might seem to be the holy grail to be able to transfer one "pick-up" from
instrument to instrument I think I won't risk it for now.

Hi all
Thank you for this post ! I already tried it one year ago but i forget the name ! Thanks to you i found my futur model 
Unfortunatelly i have not record but we tried it with 2 others microphone (sm58 and fwf pickup) and the myer was really the best.

I have Viken Najarian's transducers on some of my ouds. They seem to work about as well as anything else I've heard...not perfect. His web site
