Taqassim Farid

Hey all,

I'm trying to learn some taqassim by farid el atrashe but for the life of me, I can't figure out the right maqam. I know he jumps from one maqam to another all of the time, but I can't even get it started. If someone out there can listen to the begining and knows where it starts, please help me out. Here is the link:

Revaldo, if I'm not mistaken... I believe he begins on Rast (on C). See if this helps you begin it.

A B(half-flat) C D B(half-flat) D-E(half-flat)-D C.

Hope this helps,
TP21

Yeah you are right,

I thought that the maqam was rast, but everytime I play it, it sounds off. Then I realized that my tuner was tuning everything off of D being the center note when it is supposed to be C. So basically, I've had all of my strings tuned a whole step higher than supposed to be. Thank god I caught this early or else it would have had some long term damage on my new oud.
