Bought Turkish Oud, Arabic Tuning Advice

Hello Oud players!

I'm completely new to the Oud, have been playing guitar for a couple of years and fell in love with the sound of the Oud. I just bought one from Ankara, Turkey. String length of 58.5 cm, Turkish Tuning.

However, I tend to love the more darker sound of down tuned instruments, and plan to play it tuned to Arabic tuning, can someone give me advice on what string gauge to buy to compensate for the loss of string tension?

I've added a photo of the Oud, it's made by the Saadettin and Bahadir Sandi Luthiers.

Chances are good it will sound good and feel good with the strings that are already on there.

I believe this thread will be of some help

In short, use Pyramid 650/11 if you are on a budget. They're what I've been using on my Turkish oud for the last two years.

Or Pyramid Lute if you have the funds.

Changing tuning and strings won't make it sound too much like an Arabic oud, but it will give it a slight edge.
