Ouds from Beirut
I am planning a possible trip to Beirut this summer. While I'm there I would like to pick up a quality Oud. I would love some advice on available
quality ouds in Beirut and the approximate price in dollars I should expext to pay. I was planning to go to my homeland Syria but due to the terrible
situation there, I may have to wait. I am a Syrian citizen and fear I may be required fulfill my military requirements. I'm sure I could get one in
Damascus or Aleppo at a much cheeper price, but not worth the risk. Not yet anyway. Any advice would be appreciated.

Hossam Omary, seems to have decent collection of Ouds some are made by Zeryab, and are of decent prices .. He's a nice guy too ..

I also know that there is a store called Shaheen which sells all kinds of instruments. last time I went they had some nice ones in the 700$ range.

Music Shaheen as Samir said is spelled Chahine I believe, there's two, one is in Hamra.
There is also Albert Mansour who's ouds I like. Not sure his price range, maybe $1500

Albert Mansour prices start around 3000$ or so. Yet I believe he has some occasional more affordable good ouds manufactured in his workshop, around
1000$ and 1500$.

Also there is Georges Bitar (from Rass Baalbeck, workshop in Jal el Dib (Beirut)) whose ouds are becoming better and better. Relatively more
affordable.
He has a facebook page, oud georges bitar.

Nazih Ghadban in Ras Baalbek makes some wonderful ouds. I have heard these are sometimes available in Beirut. I don't know where you are located, but
right now in the USA, on both coasts, at least 3 of his ouds are for sale. It's not as romantic or as much fun as purchasing at the point of origin
but they are good ouds and already on this side of the ocean.
