Looks like someone cut into corner of the bowl/face to make a place for their arm to rest in...

I doubt the info on this label. Najm Abboud was based in Baghdad not in Bassrah, the boulvard is in Baghdad, there's no place called Souq Al Awwadeen
(Luthiers Market) in Bassrah, the luthier passed away in 2007 (not sure) !
What is this and why ? I don't know ?
Maybe this is more like Mohammad Fadel & Gamil George ouds made in Syria and being sold everywhere for a couple of hundreds.
