OUD EXERCISES

I try to learn Oud on my own, but the way how I am learning is not productive. Mostly, I try to play some songs or Samai, but my playing technique does not improve.
Most of the Oudbooks are unfortunately only collections of songs and do not serve to improve the playing technique.
My question to all of you can you upload sheet music with only exercises to improve the technique, both for left and right hand?
That would be great, thank you

Hi Arabesco

There are plenty of good resources online. I personally found http://www.izif.com very useful, it's a paid membership but very focused and teaches you how to read the music sheets .. They also have English language subtitles.

http://www.oudforguitarists.com is another good one (English only), again it's paid, but yet they also have plenty of free videos on YouTube ..

Www.3azif.com is also good (Arabic only).

You can also learn via Skype by some of the best players like, Adel Salameh, Tareq Jundi and Ghassan Yousef ...

Or if you know an oud teacher that's even better!

All the best :-)

Onwards and upwards

I have some pretty good exercises from Khaled Basha and Naseer Shamma. If you want to U2U me your email address or message it to me via Facebook, I would be happy to file-share them with you.

The Naseer Shamma exercises look especially challenging. Also, it's helpful to have an experienced teacher to help you identify your "problems" and help devise exercises to address them. For example, I use different approaches to work with beginning oudists who have trouble switching strings while picking from, say, those who have intonation problems.

I deleted your U2U, because I think we found what you're seeking. OK? Feel free to message me via Facebook (if you have an FB account), if you want to follow up.
