I introduce myself

Hi, i'm Marco from Italy. Is nice to be here. I'm a guitar player, and since 1 month i have my first arab oud, a seven courses oud. Now i have changed the strings, but (first "problem") i have a six course pack. How i do for my seven course oud?
At the moment i tuning my oud with the Jamil Bashir tuning: C f a d g c f, and i have start to study the scale. But i'm searchin a good method for my seven course oud, Does anyone know an online method? Alternatively, even a book to buy.

thanks for helping me.

Good music to everyone

Hello everyone! I forgot to tell you that my oud is a 60 cm floating bridge seven course. So i have continued the research and i found it https://music-strings.de/strings-for-aoud-7-string-instrument-ff-cc-...
Has anyone ever tried these strings?

I attach a picture of my oud.

Ciao!

Hello marcuzdebian

I don't have an oud 7 course.
I am just surprised about the price ... 56.71 euros ...
I think you can buy a classical set C to cc less than 20 euros added to 2 strings ff on high for exemple ... Maybe all for 25 euros ... result is correct !
Check :
http://www.oudstrings.com/index.php?route=product/product&path=...
and
http://www.oudstrings.com/index.php?route=product/product&path=...
(done for 7 course also)

Best regards

Hello Marco!

You might try Charbel Rouhana's Oud method as described in this thread.
Charbel Rouhana Oud Method
You will find a youtube video too with the book described inside. Arabian spoken. But it shows the book is manufactured very good, and so I finally bought it. I'm very content with it, I paid about 100 Euro for both volumes.

Greetings from Klaus in Germany!

Thanks for the reply sylud. Yes, actually 56 euros is too much! Under your advice I bought the pyramid strings so I expect the arrival!
So... thanks you so much!

Thanks for the plug, Sylud.

The Pyramid Lute set you posted originally is priced quite reasonably at ~57€. These are the best quality strings and are rather expensive. But if you are just starting out, it's unlikely that it is really worth the extra expense at this point.

The Pyramid 650/11 set plus the high f'f' course is a good combination. An alternative is to purchase the LaBella OUA 'Arabic' set (which comes with the high f'f') and purchase a low 6th course. In my opinion, this is a somewhat higher quality set than the 650/11 set, at least for your oud.
