what do you think of my new oud???

Hi all;

I am new to ouds, I love them and actually I have a really good backround in classical arabic music. From cairo to baghdad passing by aleppo.

I have decided to buy an oud, without having to pay alot for a custumized new one. So I decided to get my first official one from ebay, (for now I use my friend's one). (still did not arrive)

here is the link:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=7300762800

It is broken, but may be repairable by luthier here in Canada.

You experts, tell me what do you think? is it a good buy (even though it all depends on sound quality...) or not :(

I actually Love the look of the oud. Unfortunan tley I cannot asses the damage on it to know if it wa a good deal, but inshallah it is. I wish I could read german. Is there a way you can translate it for me.

And if I had access to international ebay I prob would bid on it myself.

P.S. It seems this maybe an oud from the khalife work shop if im not mistaken?

oooops sorrry... I didn't know I had to write some.. ;)

Here is the LINK translated ebay page.

So other pics given by seller do not show an irreparable damage... so that could be handled by luthier.

The seller said it's from Mohammad Shaaban...

Lets hope for the best :):airguitar:

Salaam Ya Chaldo,
This is a good "learning" oud. You have to learn how to handle the instrument as well as playing it. I leraned to play the on a broken oud that was MUCH worse than the one you got. Once you acheive a good leverl, contact Maurice Shehata in Egypt and he will get you something nice at a reasonable price.
His web page is :
http://www.mauriceouds.com/
Good luck
