Identifying this oud?
Hello All,
Someone once told me this is Fathi Amin, but not sure if it is original.
Can you help me identify this oud? is it genuine? what would be the sale value?...I am trying to get the Turkish oud, since the scale fits better for
my hand. Planning to sell this one. Or maybe trade. Any info would be greatly appreciated,

I would like to sell this one and get an acoustic or electric Turkish oud. Considering it is the genuine Fathi Amin. I have seen this oud sells for
about 2000$. But how do I know if it was genuine.

I still have no way of determining if this oud is genuine Fathi Amin, but since my last post stating that in 2013 I have aquired this oud, and the
previous owner told me that it was 15 years old. This would date it in the late 90's.
But how do I know it is genuine?

It probably is a genuine Fathi Amin. But to be honest his Son is also named fathi amin and makes ouds but not of the same quality. To complicate
things they both made ouds at the same time. How much it is worth will depend on the sound I think. The work looks clean and is typical of his style.
How is the string action? Is the neck joint stable?
For value my opinion is the range could be from $1200 to $1600. They are sought after ouds but not in the same category as old nahats or other
valuable antique ouds. Not yet anyway.
These models below can fetch in the 2000 range. Especially if it has the fathi amin sound. See below.

I think the oud tunning and fitting is stable. Not sure about the sound, because I have nothing to compare it to. The scale spacing on the neck is too
large for my fingers because I come from Violin background. The closest one that fits my hand is turkish oud. I would definitely like to sell this one
and get the Turkish oud.

It looks like it is probably genuine. As Samir said, it really depends on the sound, condition and playability. If you want to meet up I'm happy to
check it out. If it's good I might be interested or know someone.
I agree with Samir, these ouds are roughly $1200-$2000 depending on how nice they are and the condition etc.

If I’m not mistaken, the label reads Sayyid Fathi Amin, who is the son of Fathi Amin, so it’s on the lower end of the range mentioned. Fathi Amin
himself had some ouds that were low quality as well- on the other hand, his good sounding, decorated ouds can go for quite a bit more than mentioned
especially if they’re older, of course it also depends where you’re selling it. It won’t sell for the same in Egypt as it would in Europe or the
Gulf for example.

Yes I just realized also that the label is sayyed fathi amin. The son. This does lower the value slightly unfortunately.

I am okay with selling it, because Egyptian oud is not my finger spacing. Better Turkish for me
