Beginner Oud tuning thread - some common problems SOLVED

After many years of teaching beginners of the Oud online, I think I have found the best way for a bare beginner to tune the Oud.

Here's the video showing you how to do it.

https://youtu.be/Y3wslt4WlfY

This video assumes you know how to use a digital tuner and you know what notes you are tuning the Oud to.

The problems this method solves are the following:

1. Preventing pegs from slipping by allowing you to support the neck of the Oud and apply the push and turn technique.

2. Allowing the beginner to see which strings are attached to which peg.

3. Supporting the Oud comfortably so you can focus all energy on turning the pegs.

4. Allowing one of your hands access to the strings comfortably so you can pluck and turn so the tuner will hear the note as you tune.

I hope every new Oud player will find this video and never have a problem tuning their instrument ever again.
