intermediate left hand techniques

as an ex-guitarist, i know that its just natural to go thru a phase every once in a while when evrything you play sounds exactly the same to you! and in the past i used to just play thru it until i learnt something else to practice.however its quite easy to learn new things on the guitar without a teacher cos there are many websites that teach and illustrate more advanced techniques.
now i have improved alot since reading and listening to mikes learn oud page, listening to you guys on this forum and going thru the different websites, and my tremolo is coming on very nicely, but like i said before, at the moment it all sonds the same!by that i mean i am playing different notes and different maqams but with the same rythm and same licks and riffs! so any ideas on how to help me and many other people like me??!!! maybe someone would be kind enough to post a video with a few tricks of their own and clearly show when they hammer on and pull off?:)
thanx guys
