Oud scene in Barcelona....
Well, first of all I should introduce myself and say hi ! Great forums !
My name is Tarquin and I am a web designer and finishing a Phd in Islamic Studies - unfortunately I don't know much about Ouds other than that I love
Arab music but my wife is a professional opera singer who has always loved medieval Spanish and Middle Eastern music.
Basically, my reason for posting is that she has the material together to record an album but needs an oud (and dumbek) player to do some gigs and
recordings. We live in Barcelona but have only just moved here and it seems that oud players are thin on the ground !
If anyone knows of any then it would be great to let me know - also any info on the Arab/Persian music scene here would be greatly appreciated.
Sorry to start off my first post with such a request but it was what enabled me to find the forums. Hopefully I will be able to make some future
contributions !

i spend my last summer-holidays in barcelona (very , very nice town and people are so kind).i was in restaurant marakesh and i met abd el hadi
there.
he is performing with his old oud every weekend on friday or saturday in restaurnt marakesh or discothek marakesh. you can meet him there i'm sure
he is from marocco and he is a very nice person
and he gave me his oud so i was performing there also
a nice expirience
when you go there pleace give my regards to him (mourad from germany)

it was a bit hard for me to play this old oud
with very high action and a differnt tuning from mine

yes it is delicious there if you like the moroccain food
the restaurant is not far away from placa d espana
its vis a vis expohotel Nr. 6 on the map

Do they have nargile (shisha/water pipe) there also ? I am a hopeless addict and cannot find this good in Barcelona.

i don't remember if they have shisha there
all i know is that in barcelona you can find every thing to smoke...
...very fast and now legal (a friend told me that)
i'am also a shisha addict and i have one in my home i like the dopple apple
