turkish ebay oud

hi guys
buying a turkish oud very soon, though i might possibly be going there later this year. If i do, I'll get something really good over there. What do you guys think of this? I know these are delicate situations, but this oud doesn't dare I say look to bad.

proper strings and a good setup might help it out if it sounds crappy.

regards,
paddy

Hi

I was in Turkey 1 week ago and i know the prices of the ouds there.I bought 2 of this kind of oud for 2 friends of mine and the price was 150-200 Turkish Lira ~ 100 euro...i think that 250$+75$ shipping is waay too much.

Haluk makes very good Turkish ouds and ships to America. His prices are very reasonable for the quality... halukeraydin@hotmail.com . I'm very suspicious about the ones you list on ebay, unless you find out about makers, etc. They may be totally unplayable, who knows?

Hello,
My first oud was like this one and in the same price range. It was OK to learn on at first. The craftsmanship was fine, but it just didn't sound good. (Very thin without much bass response)

Cheers,
Roy

I also have one of those Turkish ouds in my collection. I have to agree with journeyman. The sound is not the best quality but I use it when I want to practice down by the beach or something and I don't mind if it gets scratched or nicked up. Good to practice on.

i have the same oud like that on the picture it is made from ALTO in izmir
i know it is massproduction but mine sounds realy nice and its so easy to play and the best thing is i found it on e-bay germany for 57 Euro
its a steel for that price
and in comparison with some low price egypt ouds it is much better in my opinion
