Hi everyone

Hello everyone,

New to the forum, new to ouds!

I hope everyone is being safe in these crazy time!

I've been looking at ouds for years now but the fretlessness was keeping me on the fence, considering I've been struggling to connect with guitars.

Turns out I should've started there a long time ago!

I'm already grateful for the mountain of information and warmth present here.

A great weekend to you all!

Nice to meet you Amon. Don't fear the fretlessness, embrace the expressiveness it provides :D

Fretlessness is not nearly as daunting as I think people make it out to be.

When I was younger, I played the trombone. I also sing. Both of those are things where you have to use your ear to get the right pitch without just expecting it to come out after hitting the right button or fret. That probably helped me with the oud. But even still, it just takes a little bit of practice. Muscle memory and ear training are key.
