That's an interesting instrument. I've never seen one like it and i would have guessed Portuguese. I've actually never heard of a Bandurria either even though I've been playing Flamenco for ten years.

I was at a concert of Barbarito Torres the most famed laoud player now in Cuba. He has played with the Buena Vista Social Club his was great show. The instrument was played with a guitar type pick but some of the tremelo and left hand techniques were clearly from it's oud roots. I was amazing to think of how the oud had migrated to spain and then to Cuba transforming as it made it's way around the world.
