Best electronic tuner?
Hi. I was looking into getting an electronic tuner but I've never used one before and I'm also new to the Oud. There appear to be many tuners on the
market. Can anyone recommend one that works best with the Oud? Also, if you've had good experience with software that would be a great alternative.

I use the inexpensive Korg CA-30 (chromatic). I don't know if it is the best for oud, but there are several forum members using this model.
The software, "AP Tuner " from http://www.cerlsoundgroup.org/main.html also works well, but not as well as the Korg, in my opinion.

Thanks Greg. I've also got a Pocket PC and I've just discovered that there is a lot of downloadable tuning software for PDAs out there on the web. I'm
going to give a few those a try and feedback to this forum. Some of them look like they can be calibrated for any frequency, so you can then create
your own scale. That potentially means that I could calibrate my PDA to a well-tuned Oud (e.g. my teacher's one) and then keep tuning my own Oud to
that reference.

I have actually used both Korg CA-30 and Boss TU-80. The later works excellent espcially with Seiko STM20 Clip-On Tuner Pickup. That was an advice I
got from a friend, and it works very well.

I Got the KORGE CA-30, now to tune it all I have to do is tune it like I would tune my guitar but instead og E A D G D E, I would do the oud tuning?

I have had the hardest time getting this answered when I first started. Anyway, I started tuning my oud to C G D A E B "high to low", then moved to
C G D A F C "high to low". The first one gives you a wide range, and once you get better you can move to the next one.

But I have 11 strings? I dont understand how to tune it, each set is tuned the same way like the first set of 2 strings is a "C" and the next set a
"G"?

Exactly. and the last single one is B in the first tuning or C in the later one.

I am using a KORG GT-12 GUITAR/Bass Chromatic Tuner and it tunes my Guitars and my Ouds too , It works very well.
