oud stands

hey all,

I was thinking. Has anyone ever seen an UD stand at all? I ask this since I have always been wondering how people who play out at all store their instruments when they take a break or does everyone just put them back into the cases (whether they are the soft or hard case variety). If somone has seen one that is manufactured could they then point one out to me otherwise I have an idea for a project to work on for myself.

I use standard guitar stands. They seem to work quite well and are very cheap.

Oud Stands

Guitar stands work great---you can get cheapies (out on the West Coast USA anyhow) for $6 sometimes. Check at Guitar Center. HOWEVER, you really should always glue a little patch of rubber foam on the center shaft right where the back of your oud touches (it always does) so you don't scratch the back if the oud gets bumped.

I put mine face down on shelves with a block of foam under the neck, and behind the bridge.

Dennis, I use Proel acoustic guitar stands. They work well and have the rubber bits in all the right places.

If you want to splurge, there are nice wooden lute stands made by Alden Lee:
