Nice. Anyone else notice that often Abadi plays with only 5 courses? No single bass, and with the 5 courses situated one position lower than normal?

Nice playing as expected from such an oudist. I am by no means a purist and open for experimentation, however I find the interviewer opening comment to Abady kind of silly and demeaning to the oud. For those of you who do not understand Arabic the comment to Abady was sort like "you make the oud sound like a guitar."

Why not then play the real thing "Guitar" on the show if that is the desire! Doesn't make sense. Lucky me I play both (intermediate level), and with a comment like that I would have played the guitar instead.:D

Thanks for the video.

Its a wonder Abadi doesnt mention too much about that comment...

The girl watchin is sooo passive. She doesnt seem interested too too much. I know I would be like that :)) But imagine thats a jaw dropping smiley

Abadi's video

Great oud playing as usual.

I agree with both Elie and Samir that the interviewer was a total idiot, to put it mildly. anyone who knows anything about the oud should know that it's the mother of the modern acuostic guitar. If I was in Abadi's shoes I would have slammed the guy with the oud for that stupid comment, actually that oud was so beautiful, I think I would have used my shoes instead. I think the real reason Abadi did not reply to that Idiot's comment, is because this was Rotana music channel, owned by non other than Al-waleed ibn Talal, a rich MoFo saudi prince. enough stupid politics and back to the abadi:

Jameel: most Gulf oud players play with 5 courses

great video

thanks for the post

Does the body of this oud seem a wider than normal? If so, how does that affect the sound?

Very nice video!
Playing is fabulous, and it's nice that on Rotana they put also classical oud and not just modern Arabic pop. I also find the interviewer sweet!
