Morty,
Turkish ouds are lighter and a little bit smaller. They sound thinner but have more sustain and resonance.
Arabic ouds are larger and heavier. They have a bigger and deeper sound but with less sustain than the turkish oud.
Egyptian ouds are highly decorated with inlay. The most ornate of the ouds. The sound is similar to the arabic oud.
I haven't heard many iraqi ouds. The ones that I have seen look like arabic ouds except for the Bashir-type oud, which supposedly has a deep tone with good sustain.
These are rough generalizations. All ouds sound different, I don't know of any two ouds that sound the same. Also, how can all ouds look the same to you? Have you seen more than one?
