Aquila Strings

where can I buy Arabic Aquila Strings type 1 in north America.

my preferred tuning is CGDAEC, but I don't mind living with a little buzz when the F String tuned down to E in type 1.

does any body have a CGDAEC tuning with aguila strings?

I have emailed Mimmo 3 weeks ago with no answer other than " I will let you know later" and I am still waiting.

sorry guys there was a typo. it is a Bass C not G

Its the first time I hear of this tuning...
I dont think its conventional enough to make a standard set out of them you would probably have to special order each string. Plus the good thing about using a standard tuning is that you can pick someone else's oud and be able to play right away.
cheers.

hi Time

i tune my (turkish) ouds
from low to high CEAdgc
with la bella and pyramid-superoud strings
i have a set of aquila nylcut CFAdgc
i will try it soon on my Sandi oud "insha allah"

on my Sandi MKA 25 oud even with la bella strings for turkish oud there is no
problem with that tuning
it sounds soooo good:D

maybe it is also a question of the neck thickness....
not only witch strings you are using

I have a E-oud also made by H.Eraydin and it is buzzing no metter witch strings
and tuning i use:shrug:
and the neck of it is mutch thinner than the neck of cankaya fore examble

The Iraqi Standard Tuning is CGDAED. The playability of this tuning doesn't differ much from the CGDAFD it is only a half-step.

I have been using pyramid-superoud strings for almost a year now. This set lasts for ever. I put a new set of these just yesterday after I gave up on ordering the aquila.

I think the cause of buzzing is the lack of proper tension and matching tune which causes the course strings to bang into each other. what I have noticed when I tune the Bass F to E I lose a little tension and buzzing start but if I take care in tuning (very fine tuning) I can almost eliminated it.

I got confused by what you wrote. Since usualy the description of a tuning it starts from the low to Bass notes to the high notes. And it helps to put the higher tuned string in a minuscule letter.
Like DEAdgc instead of cgdAED
So I could have told you then that Aquila makes a set that uses that tuning. And you can order them from a couple of online dealers. But since you got new strings regardless. Lets hope they do the job. By the way Pyramid strings are good aswell.

I am still interested to order the aguila set with cgdAEC or cgdAED. I would like to try these anyways after all the positive comments about aquila strings and I like to keep a backup set.
