I didn't know he had died until today. Found this obit in the NY Times:

A great loss indeed. I saw him play and a chance to speak with him last year.

I have heard two albums by George Mgrdichian: a very early one issued on LP where he played both Middle Eastern music and Western standards (like Take five, which was nice), and "One Man´s Passion" (on Shanachie label) which is a great album with Egyptian and Western musicians playing jazzy interpretations of Egyptian music.

On both of those, he has a very personal "twangy" sound. Does anybody know a video clip of Mr Mgrdichian? I´d like to see how he uses his left hand...
