Amos what a coincidence, I just met Alan's father in Providence, RI last week. He sent me a copy of Alan's cd from Kef to Classical that came in the mail yesterday.

Been listening to your version of Sepastia Bar that you posted a while back. Any chance you could post a simple version of the notes for a beginner oud player?

Hope your hand is getting better...

Hey Amos,
I think the file might be too big. It would be my pleasure to post Al's playing on the forums in a high quality recording. Go ahead and email the file to me, and I will create a link to it so we can bypass having to compress it to under 1MB.
Best,
Mike

Here is a transcription I did after hearing Amos play it.
My apologies for any errors.

Regards,

Greg

hey guys,
sure mike i would be happy to email you the file...what address should i use?
RA_oud, i do not read music and i learn the tunes i play by ear...greg has been kind enough to transcribe the version of sepastia bar i played, but please do keep in mind that my version is different and, i think, simplified compared to many other arrangements of the song. this famous tune has been recorded absolutely beautifully by richard hagopian and his band on his studio 'kef time' record...if you want to hear how the tune should really sound, thats the version to hear (in my opinion!)...
as soon as i know how to email mike i will upload al's tune and maybe another of his if you guys want.
all the best,
amos

Greg, thanks for posting the transcription but for some reason I can't open the tif file. When I click on it, a new web browser opens with an icon that I can't open.

hi there, thanks for the file.

RA_Oud, you have to right click on the link and click on save as... then you will have it on your desktop.. then if your computer has a program that can read tif, you will be able to view it.

well done mike :applause:
I would like also to thank our friend Amos and the others for this very beautiful piece : a very talented oudist and group of artists.
I think you are lucky Amos to have this virtuoso as teacher.
thank you very much again.

Greg:
Thanks for posting the music for Sepastia Bar. Once I get past learning basic scales and finger positioning I will try it.
