Oud Plans?

I'm interested in beginning an Oud as a new project.
However, I'm having a hard time finding plans.
Can anyone suggest how I can get started? Any good web resources, books or articles?

Any help will be well appreciated!

Hello Msmarieann:

I can attest to the worthiness of Dr. Oud's book for the begining builder. Good luck! Regards,

oud plans

I know what you're asking for! A set of full scale drawings with some notes about measures.......you can do it yourself from the Book but something already drawn would be really helpful. I'm not going to promise anything but I may try to do such a drawing.
Laying it out yourself can give you a lot of insight into overall design, placement of roses, plectrum guard etc. Some of the basic proportions varied quite a bit if you see examples/pix of Nahat family ouds over the years, for example.

The only one out there.

Lots of topics here too. Start at the beginning in the projects forum and work your way to the present. Tons of good info there from many luthiers.
