electro acoustic ouds

Hello friends!
I'm interested are there such ouds ? I'm considering getting one from Libya (Iraqi made i think) - actually somebody else is going to buy it for me. He told me that it's electro acoustic and i got a bit surprised as i haven't seen such. I have such guitars but don't know how it's with the oud. Do you think i should get electro-acoustic or only acoustic? I'll keep you posted. THANKS ;)

Electro-acoustic is good, just make sure the pickup in there is good and it plays nice.

Its a common aftermarket add-on.
Its basicaly a pickup. You can put it on the face or drill a hole in the bowl and install it permanently under the face. ITs not a feature too many makers sell there ouds with. The eq is not like on a guitar where you have the knobs on the side. You have to run it in a preamp and eq it there.
Thats it. :wavey:

We are installing pickups during the production by opening a channel on the fixed bridge.
Another type is install pickup and transducer like electric ouds.

Regards.

I found out a bit more info about that oud. Primarily i thought that it's just as it is with guitars but it turns out it's not. There is a pickup istalled inside. I asked my friend to check for the makers name but there seems to be no info. All i know is that it's made in Iraq and it's relatively cheap (about 200 $ after a discount due to the fact that nobody buys). This whole thing seems fishy and i'm a bit reserved. No matter what, there should be some maker info don't you think? Maybe i should go for an oud without a pickup and with maker's info. What do you say guys?

I think if you're not going to be playing through an amp it shouldn't be a big deal to not have a pickup. It's unlikely you'd want to make recordings of an oud w/ a pickup if you have a nice microphone available.
