this is my fhather's oud it was a gift from Catholic priest to my grandfather, the oud was made in sednaya in syria in 1970 the sounboard was replaced by maurice and it is fantastic

wow- I love that old school syrian style inlay.. it reminds of childhood (i.e. all the things we werent allowed to play with!)

It reminds me of the "taracea", a traditional marquetry with inlaid wood craftmanship, still alive in Granada, Al Andalus.

Andalusians fleeing barbarian ignorants and savage invasion fm the north brought muwashahas and......"taracea" to middle east in medieval ages.

String length seems big, like more than 60 cm.

Is it a heavy oud?

I though the more decoration the worst the sound, however yr oud sounds nice, so it was a good idea to put the oud in the hands of maestro Shehata

the string is 61.5 cm
and the finish that maurice make is special.
