my second project

encouraged by friends and inspired by the fine work of jameel, I decided to begin my second oud. for this oud I go éssayé to apply some ideas different to the tradition from the oud (system of stoppings, disign)

Way to go Riadh! Your pictures did not do justice for your first oud, it was really nice. Try better lighting, take a higher resolution shots, and try to resize the photos a bit smaller to fit the page, if you have a friend who is into photography get some advice/tips. I am trying to learn to get better photos too.

For a Cedar top I will go between 1.5 mm to 2 mm depending on how stiff that top is.

Good luck with your project!

Nice work! A glue surface of 2 mm in width for the soundboard to bowl joint should be adequate without the additional blocks. The blocks will complicate the gluing of the belly a little (if you will be using hide glue) but should not otherwise significantly affect the response of the completed instrument - because they are widely spaced.
What is important is that the ends of all of the bars fit the side ribs exactly and are well glued to the ribs because this is the primary structural support of the soundboard - not the edge joint which is purposely made weak by the edge banding/purfling for good reason.
Bonne chance!
