What tuning do you use ?

Hello, I am curious which tunings most of you are using.
I have been using (low to high) D G A D G C.
I just put a set of Aquila strings on my inexpensive oud and the sound quality is much better. I am looking forward to improving my playing and getting a really nice instrument. Peace, Bill

I used to use the same as you but my teacher Zulkarnain of malaysia taught me this one CFAdgc(f), at first it is bit more work and seems like it isn't as good but when you get used to it it is is much better, at least in my experience...mustafa

I just use EADGCF. Fairly staightforward tuning, which helps bring the notes almost completely in line and it allows me to do simple chords without straining myself.

It's pretty much standard Arabic oud tuning... All I did was change the E from F in the standard tuning, and I usually don't like to play around with things like tuning. It's also what my teacher is used to, so I don't want to mess it up for the both of us.

Mabye when I finish my tutelage under him, I'll change it. I'd like a brighter sound, mabye something like FBEADG if that's possible without breaking the strings. I think it is but I've never tried, but I have gone much higher than intended on certain strings at times when tuning them without any observed damage.

I use: F- Bb- D- g- c- f-

I'ts wierd, but who says theres a right tunning? I found it a good transition from CFAdgc all those years- it's just a whole step up- mirrored.
