Hi, kkeys,

Where are you located? Any idea what shipping would be to California?

Are the bridge and the membrane under it in good shape?

Thanks,
Nathan

Hmm, Vegas sounds like a possibility...

What about the bridge? Are the cracks cosmetic or structural?

Thanks!

Other than the horrible traffic, we enjoyed our trip to Vegas and are very happy with our qanun.

Thanks again, kkeys!

Nathan :D

You know, I think this may be made by Sukar:

Can anyone shed some light on the prices of a proper Qanun? A price range would be sufficient.

In the middle east and turkey, a good qanun is 2-3 times the price of a good oud.

A luthier told me that he stopped making Qanuns because it needs 1000 to 1200 hours of work so he won't be able to sell under 3 or 4 K, and that many of the "cheap" qanuns made today are internally reinforced by hidden steel bars which is an aberration.
It seems that just fixing the "arbats" is a month of work.
I've seen Qanuns in stores in Beirut for aroud 700$ and in Syria for 350$

That is interesting. Yes I've always seen Qanuns that go for around $2000, but I've never thought that it is over priced after looking at the craftsmanship involved. I love the Qanun it moves me like no other instrument can.
