Setar music

Hell all,

I am a new member, and I don't play oud (sorry). I play classical and flamenco guitar and I am currently learning persian setar.

I want to ask if someone knows of sheet music for setar in the internet. I have seen oud sheet music but it is not possible (I believe) to play it on the setar since the instruments have different tonal ranges and possibilities.

Thanks to all,

Alvaro

Hi, I don't know where you would find Classical Persian/Iranian sheet music, but so you know, Ottoman classical music is rarely played in the key it's written. We almost always transpose to other keys.

Take care,

mav

Setar music

Dear Alvaro

I have several books on playing the setar, which also include sheet music, but I bought them in Iran (along with my setar and tar). However, there is a good website that sells a lot of Persian music books at

http://www.sazonava.com

Hopefully you will find what you need there, but if not then please let me know and I will try to think of some other ideas.

Best wishes

David

P.S. There is also a nice setar website at http://www.setar.info
