Tunisian ouds

Hello all. Does anyone know much about the Tunisian oud? I've heard it has a fretted neck... is this true? How many courses does it have? Any information would be appreciated.

Allways and incstintively we should make a search in Mike's oud forum, where you can find all you allways wanted to know about sex.....oups sorry this W-oud-y Allen lapsus.....about ouds i meant.

So here is the link which Al -Halabi provided
http://www.virtualmuseum.ca/Exhibitions/Instruments/Anglais/cmam_j_...

And the thread (scroll down to the middle) where Al-Halabi explains its characteristics
http://www.mikeouds.com/messageboard/viewthread.php?tid=3041&pa...

May be we can mention here Salim Ferghani, the latests representative of the 'ma'alouf' tradition in Qounstantine, east of Algeria. Which tradition is siomilar to the tunisian ma'alouf. Salim Ferghani, whose father Mohammed Tahar Ferghani is a rebab (traditional violin) virtuoso and prodigious singer, plays the oud gharbi, which is similar or the same as the tunisian one.
Any correction, information, comment here is appreciated.
Salim FERGHANI is simply celestial. He is the guardian of arabo maghrebo andalousian modes tubu3a, like maqams.

Now that you mention it Zalzal,
This site has probably become over years the Kama Sutra of oud, probably the biggest available oud database online (or may be anywhere ?)

Thanks guys. Waw! I didn't realize how hard it is to play one of these ouds. The tuning is deffinatly a far cry away from the typicle five course FADGC or GADGC and six course DGADGC and CFADGC tunings.
