Middle Eastern Songs About Trains?
Greetings Fellow Udis,
I am seeking information: My 2 1/2 yr. old son is absolutely crazy for choo choo trains (we live 3 blocks from railroad tracks), and has requested a
collection of "train songs." I want to make him a "multicultural" collection.
Do Forum members know of any Middle Eastern songs about trains? I am especially looking for "novelty" songs; the best ones have music imitating the
sound of a train. I am also hoping to find generally available recordings (or would be happy to trade copies of out-of-print material).

TootToot, old Egyptian Train song, I think (but not sure) it is Fouad Al Mouhandess, a great egyptian comic.
Lot of Toots but may be not enough Choos, hope it is ok.

Also: Indian (traditional or Bollywood) songs might be fun, too, if anyone knows any.

The most famous lullaby in our region with the divine voice of Fayrouz and Assi playing bouzoq.
(I know it is going to bring old memories to many many of you, and like all of us who know it, my preferred version comes in the voice of my mother

And just.. (again).. to keep these forums "image de marque" and in a pathetic attempt to make this topic look like "oud related"
(in case someone suspects the fact that we are having a lot of fun making John's son musical library)
Here is the extremely challenging maqamian complex score of Yalla Tnam lullaby that very few oud players were able to play decently (and awake).
Adding some electronic ChooChoos to it can be a great "fusion" project.(just an idea for Dhafer Youssef)

There's at least a couple recording with train sound effects, but can't remember which ones those.
There's a recording of "Kara Tren" that's coming out on Ozlem Taner's album (Kalan Muzik Yapim, some time this spring), but the sound of the train is
there to recall a massacre in 1938, so that's probably not the kind of choo choo sounds you're looking for.

yeah I agree. First song that came to mind was the Tooot Tooot song. I'm definately downloading it for my own pleasure, perhaps share it with some
friend I'm sure they would love listening to it at an older age.
The only other song I can think about that is about trains is a song by Sana AlKharaz from Kuwait. Sana is known for singing patriotic songs. The song
is called "Mashi Qetari", vaguely translated to "My train is running". This song was for the national soccer team that represented Kuwait after they
qualified for the 1982 world cup that took place in Spain. The chorus is "Toot toot mashi qetari, toot toot laili wa nahari", reffering to the team as
an unstoppable train. Unfortunately there were bigger engines in the tournament :P. I will try to provide a recording within the next few days. It is
a really fun song with children singing along.
