I was lucky to attend the concert last night. Mav's band was excellent, they transformed a cold, damp New Haven night into the warm Mediterranean sun. Dr Beken if you could describe his playing in one word it would be intense. He is on a different level.

Marv, I'm kicking myself for not bring my oud for you to check out, maybe next time.

Thanks for posting the concert.

Hey,

Thanks for coming, it was nice to meet you. I have to say something, I've heard Dr. Beken plenty of times in person, a few times in concert, but last night was simply unbelievable. He is on another planet, some other dimension, and takes the ud places I don't even imagine, let alone execute.

I feel extremely lucky b/c not only was it an immense pleasure to play with my very talented friends Lefteris and Phaedon, but to have Munir with us playing solo before and then playing and singing with us at the end was just unreal.

Hopefully I can absorb some of his imagination, warmth and sensitivity sometime in this lifetime. I'm just blown away...

Anytime anyone has a chance to see him live, please do, no matter what style of music you like most. He's an amazing player, and amazing guy.

Take care,

mavrothis
