Oud course

Anyone know this book:

Fred G. Elias - Elementary study for oud

Is it any good? Does it deal with ornamentation and stuff?

Thanks!

I have it - not too much use, some very basic information, not much on ornamentation. About the same level as the Mel Bay book.
I wish it had more!! It says volume I, but I don't think there's a second.

I have it too, and it's not great stuff. As it says in the title, it's very very basic. Better to save your money and invest them in something better...

Arsene have you come across "The Oud Tutor" yet?? I think you will find that its quite useful beginner material, shows things like finger positions and all that, maqams, and a few popular arabic tunes. I think it would be good for someone with a guitar background....
