I finish the bracing today ! Like you see in the picture ! I will probably finish the rosettes this week ,make the bridge,the pick-guard and close this oud ! I am in hurry to put the strings on and play oud again! That make 1 year I dont have oud ! Because I sold my 2 firsts!

Nice work Raby.

That is some very robust bracing under the bridge. I look forward to hearing what kind of results it gives. Can't wait for the sound sample.

Can you show us more pictures on how you cut the soundhole inlay? It looks like you are using a manual device (not a router).

Merci gilgamesh pour les compliments de mon travail !

Thanks Jameel ! For the soundhole inlay I use a manual circle cutter homemade with i single bevel knife blade . I cut the 2 border lines and after I remove the wood in the chanel with a little chissell. I like this method !

Hi ererybody!

I finally close this oud ! I glue the purflings this morning and I will probably make the fingerboard this week ! I wait for the pegs I have ordered ,I hope received it soon ! Then some pictures of my oud :

Cette aventure racontée tout en images est une délectation pour les curieux d'oud.
Je m'interroge, en tant que néophyte, quand à la technique employée pour réaliser les lignes concentriques autour des trous sonores et de la table.
N'étant pas vraiment enclin à aimer les surcharges déco tradi, sauf le fin du fin, je suis agréablement surpris par la classe et l'originalité discrète de ton style.
Pressé de voir pousser le clavier puis la tête.

I start the varnishing process.I'll put 5 or 6 coats of shellac with brush and after I'll use french polish.Then the oud with 2 coats of shellac :

Lovey Raby....understated and elegant, but as Jameel sez -- precise !! Man, check out that pegbox...wow. The back looks really cool, the maple and makore look great together (and those are some choice pieces of wood too). Then going with the no-separator strips, doesn't distract from the ribs. All the best, can't wait to hear it.

My shop is really small , I take a room i my house. I don't have a lot of tools for the moment I work especialy with hands tools ! On this picture we see almost the half of my shop!
