Excellent finishing in all the smallest details.
Very rich and punchy sound with a beautiful echo and resonance. Adjustable neck. Can be very loud and very soft. Projects like crazy.

Zoukboy how do you tune your 8 courses oud?
I guess there should be a high F and a low C or D, but what about the 8th string?

Here's mine - yet another from Nazih's stable. I think it's exactly the same model as Jason's lovely example, but with a cedar soundboard. Zoukboy and
Michoud - I was looking into Samir Azad when I got mine. I hear they have great sound. Any chance of a sample? How does the 7 course one work? I
string mine F-f' but like the idea of having the low C as a pedal. I was wondering though, does it ever become too resonant? Is damping strings etc a
problem? Or is it just something you get used to?

Hi DaveH. I have a 7 course oud (13 strings) from Nazih, the Sada El Rouh model. I find no problems whatsoever having that extra string, which I tune
to low C. The rest ff to FF. It's really nice to be able to play a low C or D or whatever under the ff, and to be honest after playing on a 7 course
oud I think I'll find it hard to go back to a 6 course one!

Cool! I'm glad another forum member has that oud. I think I remember Nazih built our ouds together to compare how two identical ouds would sound with
different woods for the face. I seem to recall he posted audio examples where he played both ouds.

Aw bless! It's like twins reunited. Thanks for the link, Jason. I couldn't revive the sound samples though. If it's anything like with guitars, the
spruce will give a lighter, punchier more 'talky' tone and a faster response and the cedar will give a slightly heavier, rounder tone. Cedar has a lot
of resin in it so the wood is denser and more oily. In guitars I much prefer spruce, but I really loved the sound of this oud when I first heard it.
Nazih is probably right though in his observation that spruce becomes mellower and more expressive with age, whereas cedar probably doesn't mature so
much. I just couldn't wait that long. Would love to hear what yours sounds like though Jason. I'm a bit shy putting recordings of mine on the web
though as I'm just not good enough and have only been going a year.

Originally a normal bridge oud. Converted into floating bridge which made surprising changes while keeping the color of its first normal bridge
sound.
The spots on the soundboard are because of me, when I let inadvertently some iodine to fall on it!!! The lute maker preferred them not to be cleaned
up because the spots were not very superficial and the soundboard is very thin (but surprisingly solid). Thank God the sound wasn't altered and always
becoming more and more beautiful day after day
