Who is the maker of your oud, OF? Interesting to see a maple neck... you don't see that much on ouds even though it's a great neck material

Hi OF- can you say more about the changes to the sound after having it converted from a fixed to floating bridge? Was there an increase in overall

Not structurally, not in the case of my oud because it has turkish measures. I observed in istruments i played that greek luthiers have generally the
tendency of making instruments with big attack, big volume instead of warm sound and sustain. Luckily Dimitris Rapakousios is a very good luthier so
he doesn't have this kind of problems and i'm very happy of being an owner of his istruments.

Mw, well, the conversion is not that recent, maybe something like 4-5 years ago, when I was still a beginner (I still am). The bass and trebles have
still the same equilibrium. The sustain too. I guess now it is a bit louder, and the sound is more opened, more out, while still keeping very
intimate. The oud has originally been designed as a normal bridge oud, hence a different bracing and the soundboard is a little bit thicker. Have a
closer look at the new bridge. Try to compare it with the one of the "yellow" oud posted by me in the previous page, on the 16th of december.

Hey Orahim, I like the sandi one, although I am not a fan of the turkish oud shapes and designs, but this one is really simple and elegant, so enjoy
and take care of it.
Just for info: does sandi still make ouds? anywebsite talking about him? what is his full name?
And why is the scotch tape on the face?

I don't know if Sandi is still making ouds (his son(s) may still make them). As for the face, that's not scotch tape, it's a piece of fabric, tied in
the back by string, that was used to hold a little microphone. It's a wonderful sounding oud with a very warm sound to it.

His full name is Saadetin Sandi and his son Bahadir.
They still make ouds.
They have a shop in Istanbul and I think their workshop is in Ankara (not sure).
I bought one in 2005. A few other members on the forum own a Sandi oud.

Dear Samir,
I've seen these pics and your post many times, and the oud always seemed very familiar. It's only today that I've just noticed the name "Elie
Yammine" on the rosette. I don't know if the oud is made by Elie Yammine or just the rosette. I think it is the whole oud, because his ouds look like
the one in the pic.
For information, Elie Yammine is a LEBANESE Oud maker who is said to have his workshop somewhere in dora near St. Joseph Hospital. He is known to work
(or to have worked) as an employee in the offices of the "Electricity of Lebanon". May someone correct me if these info are wrong.

OK guys, today is Dolce a happy Dolce! My new oud arrived from Cairo and I am very pleased that it was a good one! The maker is a fellow named Murad
Al-Turki and the craftmanship of the oud is outstanding. The sound is more than enough for me and I´ll be sure to post a sound sample soon enough,
just after I have made closer acquaintance. here are a couple of pictures:

Waiting for Tasos oud
I'll be getting my new oud very soon - I'm soooooo excited, it's like being a kid again (I'm 41 !!). He's sent me one little picture as a taster and
here it is. It's a flame maple and ebony stripe with cedar top and custom pickguard that we've designed between us. He calls it my 'other blonde'
(Anna and my two little girls are all blondes !!).
He's a real good bloke to deal with, I'll post more delicious oud pictures whe it arrives.

You're right Matthew, I have bags under my eyes and all things I look at seem like ouds like in the cartoons when hungry people only see roast
chickens. Ouditis can be a challenging condition to live with ... but someone has to do it

Here's an Oud, made by Temil Saz Evi (Turkey) that I replaced the soundboard on. It was completely destroyed, so I used a beautiful piece of figured
redwood, over 50 years old. This is not my main performing Oud.
