Nice looking, really not bad :) Seems to be a good work!
The bowl and the back of the fingerboard looks so much like a Ghadban design.

About turkish ouds: ALthough read some threads here, I still don't know the main differences between turkish ouds and other ouds. I know it is a different tuning, around one tone higher. Consequently the string gauges should be thinner than the ordinary ones, so the oud can withstand the tension generated by the strings. Is this true?
Nice sound in the sound files of veysel. What is the tuning used? what are the string specs? The sound of the oud in the link is very bassy, as if tuned lower, in a traditional oud.
Great sound in basses, it would be interesting to also hear the oud in the highest pitches to figure if the instrument has fully balanced pitches. Would be grateful if u send a sound file that uses some higher pitches in this interesting ouds. Maybe there are in this sound file, but couldn't download it all bcos of the bad and slow connection.
Regards,
OF

Wow! What a beautiful, haunting sound! The oud is powerful and has lots of character. Very piercing sound, and the Saba taqsim makes me want to break out my sheesha and a glass of grey goose!

Haunting is right Mike! I love it. I notice that the low string is tuned to Bb. Can you tell us about the tuning used on this oud Veyselmaster? Also, what is the scale length?

I can't see any resemblance to a Ghadban design Oud Freak.

Journeyman, it is the bowl that remind me of a ghadban design, he used to make it frequently around year 2000. That's all.

Gorgeous oud, sound, and playing. Saba is my favorite makam.

I hope to be able to visit your shop someday. I have some friends that had the pleasure and said they really enjoyed your instruments and your hospitality.

Congratulations on your work and your collection.

Sincerely,

mavrothis
