Marcel Khalife visited Australia recently and played a couple of concerts. Unfortunately he didn't come to my town, only Sydney and Melbourne. Here is a nice photo of our JT with Marcel, standing outside the little hall where he played in Sydney.;)

Regards,

Greg

Hey guys,

I thought you might like to know that the Weekend Planet on ABC Radio National featured a new album called "When in Rome" an album by legendary Australian jazz band Wanderlust.
Its a recording of a performance they gave at Villa Cellemontana Jazz festival in Rome, June 2004. I was lucky enough to be asked to be a special guest that night and you can hear me playing with them on almost all the tracks featured here, just refer to the playlist. for reference.
Here is the link: http://www.abc.net.au/rn/weekendplanet/stories/2008/2225748.htm

Here is another short fun clip you guys might enjoy. Its of an informal gathering I had with legendary Egyptian poet Ahmad Fouad Negm. He invited me to have dinner with him when I was in Cairo in 2006...such an honour!

Another Brisbane Show

Joe and James, together with Slava and Leonard Grigoryan, staged more of their knockout performances last weekend. The first of the two Queensland shows was Friday night in Mt Isa and then on Saturday night at the new Redlands Performing Arts Centre in Brisbane. I was lucky to attend the second of these two shows and it was a knockout. Joe was jetlagged, after arriving back from Germany only two days before and also suffering from a virus. But none of that was obvious when he performed. James just keeps getting better and better, even though he now spends much of his time studying (to become a medical practitioner).

Here's a clip from the Sunday Arts Program on Australian ABC Television (aired last weekend):

The Faruk Türünz oud looks great on TV. Joe you look good too mate ;)

BTW, my family spent some quality time with Faruk and his wonderful family, whilst in Istanbul recently. Faruk is everything folks say about him. As well as a wonderful artist of oud building, he is a truly gentle and generous person. And he is one more thing that most folks don't know about - he is an exceptionally good oud player. He plays with great beauty and inventiveness.

Regards,

Greg
