Thanks mate. I knew that I'd heard it, but I couldn't place it.
I love this slow version.
I have the sheets for Bint el Shalabiyya, but it appears to be a different song. Does anyone have the sheets for this piece?

The first link posted by Greg is definitely bint el chalabiyya interpreted in a new age atmosphere, especially known from Fairuz and Rahbani Brothers
but I doubt the Rahbanis composed it, I think it is a traditional tune from some country.

As for your question Oud Freak, the iraki traditional musical repertoire contains the same melody, used in some folk songs well known in irak...

I really like this piece and it was the first thing I learned on oud as it's one of Nazih's party pieces.
All the versions I've since heard (whether called Al-Uzobya or Bint el Chalabiya) have been in nahawand with b natural (if you take c as the tonic).
But as I remember it, Nazih played it with b flat. Has anyone else heard it played this way?

PS Marina - I've also heard it used (presumably with different words) as a pizmon and I think it might be on David Betesh's excellent pizmonim
website. Just shows how these tunes get around.
