I know I won't be able to add something more to what you all said, but I want also to write how I felt this guy was a great person as I felt in our few e-mail exchanges, he was always very kind and helpful, and when you read his post about his quality and affordable ouds, together with the post he wrote, you feel that the oud world has lost somebody which we could have been proud of him.
I sent him an e-mail to buy him an oud at the end of May 2008, he then told me he was not in his workshop. I had been waiting for months to decide to order him an oud because I just don't have much money, but thanks to him I have been able at least to think of purchasing a quality oud despite the fact I'm not rich. Unfortunately It was too late, but at least you gave me the ability to dream about holding a quality oud dear Haluk, hope you will be fine in the place you are now. All my sincere condolences to his family.

Sad news, not only a generous and dedicated Luthier, but he gave his knowledge to over 30 apprentices.

It has been sometime since I've been on these forums, but I sure didn't expect this news when I signed on. He was a masterful craftsmen and gentlemen who produced a quality instrument for an affordable price. He built me a beautiful baglama saz in '05 and he was excted at the time because it was the first one he had ever sent to Ireland. Has any of his apprentices kept the torch going? May he rest in peace.
