Your critique is important (first disclosure :P)

Hi all,
I assume some of you know that I've been trying to learn as much as I can during the past year or so..

I thought I should post something and ask for your opinions..

Long story short, here is a clip I just recorded of my usual taqseem.. I sometimes play it better, I think I'm "microphone shy" or something..

Please let me know what I should work on and "spot the bad" things for me..

Thanks a lot,

EDIT: link replaced, file is fine now

ِHumm.. :)

I realize it's not a "pro" playing skill, but this is what I've learned so far..

Can anyone suggest anything to better my playing?!

I would say that you need to move around more. in your taqsim you had very few "stopping points", or tonal centers, and very few melodic lines, mostly drones. So practice creating more melodies, and let the maqam take you to other parts of the scale, don't be afraid to explore.

Keep on playing!:airguitar:

Hi Amer. sounds nice, a gentle approach. sounds like you know where you want to go musically speaking. keep on playing, listening to other players taqsims on the oud for inspiration, and your own style will surely blossom.:)
