Truss rods on ouds?

Do you know any examples? Could you figure out how can a truss rod be put inside an oud?

Regards.

I haven't seen any true truss rods on ouds.

Sukar has a similar system using a wing nut that will raise or lower the action by tightening the neck joint.

Another builder also has a similar system. I'm sure someone will chime in with his name... he may be using actual truss rods, I'm not sure.

Retrofitting a truss rod into an oud would be extremely expensive and not worth it at all imo.

I don't understand enough Arabic to know what's being said, but I don't see a truss rod. It rather looks like an adjustable bolt-on neck mount. A truss rod runs the entire length of the neck and is mean to control the curvature or relief of the neck of a fretted steel string guitar neck. This relief is meant to correct intonation problems rather than action or string height. Since the oud neck is short and the string tension is much less than a steel string guitar, a truss rod is not useful for the oud. The adjustable mount is a good idea, I'm just curious how Fadi solves the problem of the gap resulting from adjusting the angle of the neck. Guitar neck angles are shimmed to correct the angle if they are bolted on.
