I don't think this is a Moh'd Fadel Oud based on

1. The label, I have never seen this label b4, at least not for the period in which the oud was made.
2. The finishing on top is poor.

It seems the oud has been maintained by someone. I am not sure however.

Well first of all we need to make sure its real. I did not buy it yet. He is asking for $700. so lets say $950 maybe including shipping. dont think it worths that much if its not real.

I think the oud is nice and well made regardless who the maker is.

What do other members think ?

Thanks,

It is an authentic Fadel, the label is typical for the year but without the photo of Mohammad (nothing strange).
The finishing on the top have zero to do with its authenticity.

Best wishes

Hi Samer,

It does not looks like a real Mohammed Fadhel, because the serial number is wrong.

The serial numbers in 1991 was around 6000 - 6400.

The label inside the oud is not the right label used in 1995.

It is a fake unfortunately.

Look for another Oud.

You are completely wrong with both your statement. This soundboard is not made of cedar but of a pine specie. I have owned ouds by Fadel with soundboards made of cedar. Even Omar Bashir have ouds with cedar soundboards made by Fadel.

Is this really true? When the labels are just a mess and even my friend who has been at the workshop in Iraq got info. about the labels which were printed in various models at different places. Sorry but I dont trust this.

All this talk of fake or not ... I understand the importance of this ... but you say it SOUNDS AMAZING !!!!!

Are you collecting or playing;) (I already know the answer my friend).

Why not buy but put in a lower offer as it is not 'genuine'.

Indeed, Leon. But I find it very comforting that those who cry "fake" seem often to have merchandise of their own to offer.
