I have just received my copy of Marina's book. It has taken a while - due to a 'comedy of errors' that is not relevant here. I am impressed by this
work that will help me in a transition from over 30 years experience as a lute player to the oud. The included DVD is particularly useful and
showcases Marina as an excellent teacher - personable and easy to understand in her presentation of the important basics. Highly recommended.

I've had Marina's book for about a month now, and it has put me on the right path. Once the oud I'm building is done (top ready to glue), I'm looking
forward to putting Marina's teaching to the test. In the mean time, I've been learning maqam on a nylon string guitar and then transferring it to
fretless banjo. Just to get an idea of how things may sound.

Marina's book arrived this week and I am really impressed with the straightforward instruction! The dvd is great and the book is exactly what I was
looking for in a beginner book... I have played double bass for over 30 years and am familiar with the way instruction is presented and this is a
great one. If you are new to the Oud, do yourself a favor and get this one.

Hi there!,
there are midi files, but no quarter tones - you know, westers computers...
Here it is - but, be cearfull - no Quarter notes, so the in the some songs melody is not "REAL". That was the reason I did no enclude it in the
book.

Hi Marina.. Nice MIDI collection for beginners.
I just have a small comment.. BASHRAF FARAHFAZA is played back in a very fast tempo. It's rather very slow and mellow, like in this sample: http://www.maqamworld.com/realaudio/clips/farahfaza/bashraf_farahfa...

Reda, yes, you are right,
Bashrafs are always very slow - this midi probably run quickly by itself. I do not turst computersi. They are human sometimes ;-)))))
