I am in Ulster County. Looking for and oud teacher and players within an hour of Poughkeepsie. (tired of driving to New York City). Anyone out there? Riqq players, other oud players...

When you spend your weekends in NY where to you go? Where do you live in CT? I've been wanting to put a fusion type of ensemble together...flamenco, Middle East, a bit of jazz and New Age...I am a composer and guitarist as well.

Hi Amer and Shareen

I live in CT as well, however, my NYC weekend rituals ceased with the end of my grad school days at NYU...a long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away:)

I wish you both success in bringing your talents together and perhaps you just may launch something artistically meaningful.

Shareen seems to have both the background and an ambitious vision for eclectic music. Go for it.

Thanks guys. Eventually, if you put things out enough the wave starts to come back in. I've started to bring Middle Eastern music up here and I am producing my first concert and workshop with am Israeli friend of mine who is visiting the States for a few weeks. Hopefully the first in a series of "Peace" concerts.

Best to you all

I am in Beacon, NY in search of lessons for oud too. I play a bit of Flamenco and South American Classical on guitar. Also interested in starting up an ensemble.
