Good morning oud fellas,
A friend of mine is looking for a good riqq. Does anybody know a maker or an e-shop selling riqqs and arabic drums via internet? Please let me

Hey guys
One of my main interuments is the riq and i am in the prosses and saving for a eli huli. He is a israeli riqq maker and it hink he is ont the same
level if not better then kevork, i played it and i fell in love the only problem is its a lil expeinve its liek 400 euros i think.
I used a gwaher al fan riqq and its acually not bad at all. its very loud and i use it all the time for concerts. dont be fooled when peopel say its
junk bc it is really not.
Never tried a cooperman but heard great things about them.

I've played on an Eli Huli riq, it was really nice. Many percussionists I know don't consider it to be quite on the level of the Kevork. I thought it
was great, but I'm not a percussionist. It's easily one of the best tunable riqs out there (I say that because I know some excellent players who
simply prefer the traditional sound of the non-tunable riq). The one I played belonged to Zohar Fresco, he's a GREAT percussionist in Israel if you
don't know him. If I remember correctly, he had replaced the original jingles with ones from Kevork. As you can imagine, it's nearly impossible to
get a Kevork Riq in Israel.
I used to have a cooperman, and have played several over the past five years as their design has evolved. Their new riq is pretty nice (they actually
incorporated several improvements I suggested to them when I had my old cooperman, though I don't know if my input had anything to do with it). Their
jingles are still not great, though. If you get one, definitely get the fish skin head. It sounds much much better than the plastic they use. It's
not on the level of the Kevork or the Eli Huli, but it's not $500+ either.

There is a new maker in Israel that I found out about recently on David Kuckhermann’s website. He seems to like them. I traded email with the maker
and they cost about 400.00 US plus shipping

I am not a drum player, but I know that Eli works very deep on each of his instruments, they are pure hand made. He did a years of research to reach
todays model: choice of wood, jingles etc...And also, he was a percission player for more than 20 years.
I think that a good instrument gets you to deeper into music.
