! - Wood question for oud
I just wanted to know, is maple among the higher quality woods than can be used for an oud? As far as aesthetics and tonal qualities are, how would
you rate them?
Basically, the question is to help me in deciding between two ouds:
1.) Alternating rosewood and maple combination.
2.) Full rosewood.
I was wondering what type of effect the maple would have on the oud, as opposed to having a full rosewood oud.
(Hope this makes sense!  )

Are you talking about the bowl?
Several people here will tell you that the bowl has very little to do with the overall sound. I won't say I completely agree with that but I don't
think the difference in your two options would be very dramatic. The soundboard and bracing system will have the biggest effect on how the oud
sounds.

I did mean the bowl, however, both soundboards for the oud are aged spruce of the highest quality. I actually decided on getting the first option
simply for location and price (shipping charges, etc.).

I'm with you Jason. However, I favored on walnut and mapple combinations. It just tastes me good.
