I personally use a little cloth that came with my sunglasses.. ;)

Try to find a soft cotton cloth, just don't use water or any sprays as they might penetrate the wood and eventually damage the oud..

If your oud is polished and covered with a glassy material, you can use guitar cleaning kits (in very minimal amounts).. But make sure you don't use it on any part that is not protected..

This one wasn't bad, http://www.music123.com/Planet-Waves-Guitar-Polish-Express-Pack-365...

you can apply olive oil with a piece of cloth
or apply guitar polish( you can find in most music shops) and apply in the same way

DO NOT PUT OIL on an unfinished face!

better to use a little bit of lemon oil on the fingerboard with a rag. you can use 0000 steel wool if the rag doesn't work.

whatever you do. Do not let ANY oil on the face.

If you problem is the dark area where the face meets the fingerboard, you can try to use a good white eraser and work on the area.
